Dr. Amanda Zerkel

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Maryland Heights

Dr. Zerkel was raised on a small farm near Greenville, Illinois. She developed an interest in animal handling and husbandry at an early age by taking care of a multitude of creatures on her family's farm. She began volunteering for a local veterinary clinic at age 12. She completed her undergraduate studies at Truman State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology in 2009. Dr. Zerkel attended the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with her doctorate in veterinary medicine in 2013. For three years, Dr. Zerkel worked at a small animal practice in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her professional areas of interest are preventive medicine, soft tissue surgery, endoscopy, and internal medicine. Dr. Zerkel is enjoying being back in the St. Louis near her family and friends and is excited to have joined the Animal Medical Center of Mid-America team! In her free time, she enjoys working on her family's farm, gardening, spelunking, scuba diving, quilting, running, cooking, baking, reading, and traveling.
