We love this infographic from the American Association of Feline Practitioners:
One thing that isn't mentioned here though... by the time most cats reach four to five years old, they already have some sort of dental disease. This is a problem because dental disease, which can exist on the teeth and/or below the gum line, can lead to many serious health issues like heart disease, kidney disease, thyroid issues, and more. Routine veterinary visits and dental exams can catch tarter build-up before it becomes a problem.
There are so many reasons why you shouldn't postpone your cat's routine check-ups! And just like Benjamin Franklin so famously said, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
The Animal Medical Center of Mid-America has veterinarians at two locations that can answer questions about your pet’s health. Call 314-951-1534 or click here to request an appointment online.
