AAHA Accreditation

Less than 10% of veterinary clinics in North America are AAHA accredited, and less than 1% of those are not-for-profit organizations- Animal Medical Center of Mid-America operates TWO of those hospitals! We are committed to providing the best possible care for the pets we see. That includes owned animals and those who are at the Humane Society of Missouri, waiting for their forever homes.

Unlike hospitals for people, veterinary hospitals are not required to be accredited. But we believe strongly in the importance of veterinary excellence and continued education. So, it only makes sense that the Animal Medical Center of Mid-America is AAHA-accredited and held to higher standards.

An AAHA-accredited practice undergoes extensive evaluations – 900 to be exact – and must address things like pain management, radiology, cleanliness and housekeeping, diagnostic testing, and dental care, to name a few. And AAHA-accredited practices undergo evaluations every three years. The medical care standards designed by AAHA include:

  • Emergency services
  • Pain management
  • Contagious diseases
  • Surgery and anesthesia
  • Radiology services
  • Pathology services
  • Nursing care
  • Diagnostic and pharmacy
  • Dentistry
  • Examination facilities
  • Pet medical records
  • Medical library
  • Housekeeping and maintenance
