End of Life Resources

Losing a beloved pet is one of the most difficult things a person can experience. At Animal Medical Center of Mid-America, we understand how trying and emotional this time can be and want you to know that we are here for you. We have a number of helpful resources that might help during your time of grief and sorrow. Saying goodbye to your animal companion is hard, but it is important to remember that you are not alone. Please visit the below resources or reach out to us if you need to. We’re happy to help in any way that we can.

This scale can help you evaluate your pet's quality of life.

Veterinary Consultation

Deciding if it is the right time to say goodbye to your pet is a very difficult decision. We recommend scheduling a veterinary appointment to discuss your pet’s condition so you can make the most informed decision. To schedule an appointment, please call 314-951-1534

Humane Euthanasia

We offer humane euthanasia services by appointment. While we encourage you to be present, it isn't required. We offer a peaceful, home-like setting, and you are welcome to stay in the room until you have said your final goodbyes. To schedule an appointment, please call 314-951-1534

Cremation Services

The Animal Medical Center of Mid-America offers affordable cremation services. We work with an accredited pet crematorium, and your pet’s ashes can be returned to you for  memorializing your pet. Our staff will be able to answer any questions you might have at the time of euthanasia, or you may call in advance for more information.

If your pet has very recently passed and you wish to have them cremated, please call (314) 951-1534 to discuss your options.

Tributes and Memorials

We offer many options to help you pay tribute and celebrate the life of your cherished pet. Directly across from the Animal Medical Center of Mid-America’s 1201 Macklind Avenue location is Carol Gates Throop Memorial Park. This beautiful, tranquil park is a quiet place to reflect on the joy our pets have brought to our lives. Lasting memorials can be made in the form of engraved bricks, dedicated benches, trees, and more. Learn more about memorializing your pet.
